I drew function inspiration from the Borrowers, one of my favorite books as a kid. As a kid I always thought it was silly and innovative how the Borrowers would repurpose common items. At the time I didn't realize that this was explicitly an exploration of scale and how changing the physical size of items can provide new benefits with the occasional comical outcome, while revealing new insights into the design of the source item. One thing I feared with this shelf was that it actually wouldn't be sturdy or able to hold a lot of weight. I was delightfully pleased to discover that it can hold a substantial amount of weight, more than one would expect. The mini is perfect for smaller objects like makeup, art, incense, or even your switch. The larger one can hold books. That's part of why I truly love this shelf. It's equal parts practical while still being playful (a bit comical).
Designed for studio apotroes. A shelf inspired by the bobby pin.
