Luna Tabouret

Luna Tabouret

I didn’t develop an appreciation for the celestial until I saw the Milky Way in 2018, and then I got it. I understood the fascination because it was breathtaking. Since that moment whenever, I’m in places with low light pollution I always look up even though I spent more time looking down and out at the layers of earth. When I found this stone I planned to use it for something but eventually felt it was too interesting to cut up and was determined to find a new use for it that exemplified its complexity. It helps that I view the world through connections and fac simile, because I realized the how much the mixing of elements and stones mirrors the diversity of heavenly bodies and the night sky. At this point it was easy to design something with the same duality, as a tabouret is both a seat and side table, inspired by the night sky that elevates the geology of earth and grounding the sky. This particular stone is a mix of onyx, amphiboles, granite, and mica; and was diverted from the landfill, given a second life, and creating a piece just as unique as the stone itself.

Designed for studio apotroes. A table and stool inspired by the moon.
